Edge Fractional CO2 & How It Will Benefit You

Fight deep acne scars and wrinkles with this 10 minute laser treatment.

Bothered by acne or chicken pox scars? Starting to see fine lines and wrinkles? The Edge Fractional CO2 laser can make your skin smooth, firm and flawless once again.

The story behind the “bumps”

Collagen is a protein in our skin that keeps it firm, strong and smooth. It comes from a Greek word that actually means “glue producing”. While it’s not actually sticky, it does keep skin tight and firm thanks to its network of fibers.

When we lose collagen, skin loses its strength and elasticity. That’s what causes the fine lines, wrinkles and lose of definition along the cheeks, mouth and jaw.

Deep, indented acne scars (called icepick scars, boxcar scars, or pock marks) happen when a pimple becomes so inflamed and infected that the collagen in the tissue is destroyed. Since the cells in that area no longer have any support, it collapses to form those small and soft depressions in the skin.

Fractional CO2 Laser restores collagen

The Edge Fractional CO2 laser can significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars. Lasers give off a heat energy that can prompt the cells in the dermal layer to produce more collagen. A session takes just 10 minutes, but this is enough to jumpstart the skin’s regeneration. You’ll see your skin over the next few weeks.

How many fractional C02 laser treatments do I need?

It depends on how deep the scars or wrinkles are.  Your doctors will discuss your case so you have a clear idea of the duration of your treatment and what to expect at each stage.

What is the pain and down time?

The new generation machines like the Edge Fractional CO2 lasers greatly reduces the discomfort and redness that you will experience. You can expect some hot, prickling sensations during your sessions, but this is tolerable. The lasers also works very quickly, so any discomfort will be very short.

After the session your face will feel warm and red for about 1 to 2 days. Unlike other fractional lasers, the Edge will not cause your skin to form big, rough scabs. You may want to avoid sun exposure and harsh skincare products for a few days to avoid irritating the skin. Your doctor will give instructions on how to care for your face.
